Type IIA 1/72 Scale
« on: 09 Dec , 2011, 10:46 »
Hi Guys,
I am finally finished with my Type IIA!  This is the the Special Navy kit, using the AMP detail set and loosely modelled after U-3.  I used a little artistic license to suit my taste as far as the painting and details, so it is not 100% historically correct.  This is only the second model I have built in the last 25 years or so, the other being the Revell VIIC-41.  I am trying to hone my building and painting skills before I get into weathering, so the boat looks as it would look leaving the slipway.  Comments and criticism welcomed.
Regards,
Brian

Well done! I also like the display base very much, she looks perfect on that!

Adding a touch (just a tad!) of weathering is all she needs. She's newish at this point, but even nw boats got pounded bad, so just a hibt.

Very well done, and very well presented. Congrats!

Very well done build Brian.  The display is both unique and well executed.  I like the photos also!

Thanks for your comments!
Wink--I would like to add some weathering to the boat but I have no experience with weathering and I am a bit scared to try on this model.  I need something to practice on.

Brian

I have just gotten a chance to look at this IIa and I like her!  I think after I get done with my VIIC I want to do a cut-away Type II. Well done! I also agree that she looks great up on the timbers... :-)

Thanks for the thumbs up!  I think a Type II would compliment your awesome VII cutaway very nicely.

Thanks Dan. The type IIA really displays nicely along side the type VIIs I have built.  Assuming the scale is accurate, it's hard to believe how much smaller it is!  I am about to get started on a type XXIII which is even smaller.

Brian
