Hi,

The GATO and the Chinese type33 (1/144) are now in stand-by, the U-1299 "draft" and the Horten Ho 229 "desktop model" are almost finished...

It's time to give time for my FIRST sub in scale 1/72 : the "Seehund" typ XXVII - late version.
I bought two kits, the ICM and the Verlinden resin kit.
The Verlinden is my "upgrade" box, i will use the plastic hull for the vents and all the details.
I will use one early G7a-T1 and one late G7e-T2 Torpedos, from Schatton.

First step : the Verlinden CT and PE parts will replace the poor ICM tower.

The two kits and the torpedos :

the Verlinden PE sheet :

G7a-T1...

The first step...

The "Seehund" is like the typXXIII, a mysterious midget sub; you can find a lot of unusual versions, with different CTs (...for exemple):

(source : unknown on internet, google images)

Gents, i need your help : do somebody know from what year the picture is ? Or maybe the versions ?

If you have comments, opinions or... please feel free.  ;D

Hello,

Thanks rokket.

part I : the tower

I removed the tower from the hull, and i began to dig and open the vents.
I removed the "splitter" from the tower bow side ; it's not centered i'll scratch-build it when the tower will be glued on the hull.

Thank you Ralf for the kind words.  :)

Well I take the pics in manual mode with a 9Million pix camera, sometimes during daylight, sometimes by night. It's a bit difficult with the black background, because it "absorbe" the light. The camera is fixed on a tripod, and I take the picture with a remote control.

Thank you Messieurs, very much appreciated.  :)

News from the yard :

The bow section, styrene + putty + sniffing a lot of dust...

And the "tower" ; Verlinden's PE is great, but the shape a bit strange to me. Also : as it's an old kit, the resin shrinked and there is
1 to 2 mm (!!!) size difference.
I redraw the cover and cut it in a thin styrene sheet :

That's it folks, stay tuned...

Thank you Guys for your appreciations  :)

WIP : the rivets

It should be like this but... :

...i have to find the right detail balance, a homogeneous build. I don't think that i will put all the rivets lines, but i will replace the hatches. Hope to get the welding lines from Archer ASAP.

My favorite hobby : stretching sprues in 0,3mm diameter :

(and drilling 0,3mm holes  ;D) One side is partially made :

and the bow section :

Next step : staying on my ground and "riveting"...

Stay tuned  ;)
cheers,
Pepper

Wow-wow-wow! I can't stretch sprue, impossible for me. Wow, that is a really impressive end result!

The Archer weld set is lovely, but it is pricey: US$75. I used masking tape and putty. It sounds crazy, but the Squadron green stuff was just right (Tamiya grey is too strong). It's very easy, very cheap, and makes an excelent weld when sanded (in a lumpy fashion of course). http://www.rokket.biz/models/modelsweb/rokket/u557/prog1.shtml
