Revell 05/2018 update
« on: 16 May , 2018, 09:33 »
A lot of the sub models come from Revell & Revell/Germany so you may or may not have heard news about them. This is from my wholesalers website.

"Revell Models: Both Revell Inc (USA) and Revell AG (Germany) have been sold to a German investment group. The actual sale closed early this month but we are told that shipments may not resume for 60 to 90 days. Fortunately we received one large restock before the transition, so we have stock of all the kits that Revell had available before the ownership change. There has been no additional information about the future of both Revell USA and Revell Germany, other than that they fully expect to continue distribution throughout the USA once the transition period is complete. We will let you know when we know more."

The restock notice is for this one company and should /may differ from one company to another.

Hope that they keep the company together and keep on making sub kits for us.

Hi Rokket, hi Tim,

in the July issue of FSM (FineScale Modeler) I have found the following news about Revell:

"The bankruptcy of hobbico has led to Revell's assets being bought by the german investment group "Blitz". It is based near Munich. Blitz bought also Hobbico Germany. Hobbico based in Illinois, had owned Revell and was forced to sell it due to it bankruptcy. Revell Germany will continue to operate as in the past, with Blitz being its owner. however Revell USA operations have been closed.
Court documents say the sale included all molds and tooling owned by Revell USA, so those now belong to Revell Germany.
It also included Revell trademarks, such as Revell in various forms, Snap Tite, Junior Kit, Renwal, Momogram,  Pro Modeler, Revell Monogramm, Red Baron and many more."

Hi Gents,

just a little bit off topic but Revell related anyway: A few weeks ago Revell of Germany was in trouble here in Germany because the press critized their (Luft'46) model kit of the "Haunebu Flying Saucer" as a glorification of the Nazi reign and their technical capabilities. So RoG has to recall all "Haunebu" kits from the stores. IMO the press overstated that matter but the financial loss is real. Hope Revell won't strike planned kits for 2019 off the list to compensate this financial loss.

Regards
falo

As Revell has been one of the best sub kit providers I hope that they can overcome and keep putting out some great models for a few more years.
