U-505 ca. 1954
« on: 16 May , 2014, 19:43 »
 :D :D  Hello all!
Here are some photos of my U-505 ca. 1954. The next phase of this project will be a diorama with this boat in a floating dry dock waiting to cross Michigan Ave to the MSI 60 years ago.  Model took over 200 hours and over $300 to complete. Sorry for the terrible pics! I need a better camera!
Regards,
Dan

 ;) Thanks!
this only part one of this project.  Another member of our club is going to make the diorama base and drydock for it.  Should be good! I will post pics when  I am able.

Dan

 :) Thanks!
That  is the whole idea.  If you look at pics of U-505 at that time it was rough to say the least. That is why I weathered the lower hull so much. It  had been in the water for 9 years with out a cleaning! They painted it black down to the water line. The deck was in rough shape too.
Glad you like it.
Regards,
Dan

Hi! It is on going as we speak. I am not doing the Diorama base.  Other members of our model club are working on that part. Different persons are working on different parts.  You will have to wait until March when we  get it all together. I will have photos for you then.  You will just have to be patient as I have to be.
Thanks for asking however!
Best Regards,
Dan

:)  Thanks for the postive feedback! My camera is not the greatest. I will try and see how they come out.

I remember one of my clients talking about the closing of Mich. Ave for the U505 crossing and showing me several pics of the crossing. If I see him again I'll try to get copies of them.
If you get the time to post the above missing pics it would be great.
