Uboat Original Drawings
« on: 17 Oct , 2020, 14:22 »
These 3 drawings appeared recently on a Facebook U-boat site from a gentleman Mr Patrick Bateman from Germany who said a lot of original U-boat drawings still exist and were not destroyed after the war.

Are these drawings familiar to anyone?
Are they ones not seen before or common knowledge?

ps: I cant read German so Im assuming these are VIIC drawings. I think I see a date of 1933 on one of them?

His comments....

"I do have all of the Spesifications Notebooks for the Sumbarine and up to 110 Iron Plans showing almost her entirely Structure. And they arent redrawn. I hear this alot.People alsways think nothing has survived WW2. But german Military Archives are full. I have found tons of Original Plans and Books. Im even Author of the Building Regulation for the Type VIIC. You can find it on Amazon. Its in german tho. Im working on a Translation. But still, there is alot to find and study. But people never know where to research."

Yes there are still a lot of drawings, I've spent the last 10 years finding and getting them. working on making models from the drawings. These are my copies, he's working with me. It's a very expensive process getting them and I'm trying to find a way to get more people involved so we can get all of them professionally scanned and preserved. As you can see some of them are not in the best shape.

If anyone's interested we can talk on the U-Boat Sim Discord. We've partnered together to make this something beyond just a video game. It's living history that's technically as accurate as possible.

I think I've emailed a few of you on this forum a few years ago, Don, and Simon.

Those are fabulous. It would be wonderful to see these recorded and/or restored.
