U96 Hachette

Hi all.

I'm new here but I've been trying to read all the fantastic info you have all put up.

I'm currently building the Hachette 1/48 model, which I'm also doing the forward torpedo room. I'm just wondering if anyone has any photo of this room showing the main hatchway looking from the room outwards.

Any help wound be great thank you.

Ps I have a build diary but it's not on this site, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link the other forum to this forum.

Hi Mustang and Welcome aboard!
1/48 huh? B I G !!! lots of details! First of all congrats for the great progress achieved so far.
Trying to answer your question: do you mean the torpedo-loading hatch (forward torpedo hatch) or the hatch separating the forward compartment and the previous one containing the officers accomodations, CO's cabin, radio room etc?
let me/us know asap
Cheers

Hi SG

Thanks for the quick reply.

Sorry for not being precise in my question.

I'm looking for photos for the hatch/doorway separating the foreword compartments.

In the first photo you'll see it's just a blank wall at the moment, the last photo is what was supplied and from what I can work out its looks like the U955.

It not a photo, but it may help. Here a drawing of frame 36, looking aft.

Follow the link:

And also:

You can actually navigate inside the torpedo-room, so turn your visual field aft and zoom the image. Great site isn't it?  ;)

Thanks for the drawing NZSnowman, that will help me.

As to the U995, I understand that it's a VII class but a lot of the interior was modernised and as so a lot of the internal parts of the torpedo room are not as it would have been when used in the WWII at the time of the U96.

Hi Snowman,

I suppose you transposed the numbers accidentally: IMO your drawing shows the pressure hull frame 63 (?).

Just noticed that yet because of the snorkel cutout, don't know if I'am right. If not sorry for mixing up things here  :(
