Arkmodel new 1/48th VIIC kit
« on: 07 Jan , 2013, 13:44 »
Hi guys,

Not long after Revell have announced a Type IX in 1/72nd scale (yes, they have finally gone and done it) comes another piece of good news. Here you can see that Ark Models are releasing a Type VIIC in 1/48th scale -

There are pics next to a 1/200th Bismarck which show the size -

The release date is June 2013 and the kit is injection plastic not GRP, price should be US$268 for basic kit. One or two people have questioned the availability, but assuming the kit does come out and can be found online, then we may have a very nice, very big VIIC at a reasonable price this year.

I'll never get that 200th Bismarck, not with a 1/48th VIIC and a 1/72nd IX coming out this year!

Cheers,

Dougie

Thank Dougie, great news!

I have not built any models for many many years, but I think I would be very keen to buy one and put it aside, finish my U-1308 then build the model base on my drawing :) :)

Wow, the ultimate frontier for U-boat modeling! Smaller than a 1/32 boat but bigger than a 1/72 one. The level of detail and potential for superdetailing is unimaginable, if you have enough space for displaying the boat I mean. A bit pricey but very good news indeed! Great pics too!
Thanks for sharing Dougie

Looks like a fruitful year for uboot modellers.  Not sure if I will get this one as I still have to finish the Type VIIc interior build that I have been working on again and off again on for the past two years.  I WILL be getting the Type IX when it is realesed however!

Hello again,

On the subject of 48th scale VIIcs, the Ark Models display kit appears to be $565 on their website.

Goto -

http://www.arkmodel.com/

Then select Ark Models under the Manufacturers drop down, you should find the kit from there.

Not sure if this kit is actually for sale or not - anyone want to try getting one?!

Cheers,

Dougie
