Problems with Pressure Pot?
« on: 09 Nov , 2012, 16:13 »
Hey  guys, I'm having some problems with my casting pot and thought someone here might be able to answer my question.

i have this pot here
, I was lazy and didn't want to put together my own.  I got it about a year ago and i'm having problems with the safety valve popping at 35 psi.  I'm trying to do clear cast parts(I use smooth on task 9, and if the pot holds at 40 psi I get really nice casts).

It's the exact same pressure pot as the one Harbor Freight sells- it just comes all nice and neat without the long pipe inside and such.

Even when I first got it, the safety valve would leak a little at 40 psi, I thought it was just something it did.  If I gently pressed it with my thumb, sometimes it would stop leaking.

I'm trying to figure out what's going on, but I don't have enough experience with this kind of thing to trouble shoot on my own.  I thought about removing the safety valve entirely, but I really don't want to blow myself up.  That would be problematic.

Any ideas?
