I was searching the online Australian War Memorial files the other day, and came across something that folks wishing to build a Tambor might find useful. There are several photos of Fremantle in there, with various US subs tied up alongside tenders. The subs aren't labeled by name, but from the mostly 1942 dates one should be able to get a pretty decent idea of which boats are there. If nothing else, one could get a pretty good idea of when and how the fairwater was cut down, did they still have prop guards, radar fit, and where the deck guns were located. Just do a search for the tenders USS Pelias, Fulton,a and Holland. Or, search for something like, "submarine, Fremantle." I was only able to find a few photos, and nothing showing sub operations from Brisbane, unfortunately. I suspect its like the US National archives - there's a ton in there, but only a sliver has been digitized and placed online. Of course, you'll have to order the photos to get a good, larger view but the thumbnails look interesting. There are even a few that seem to show S-boats down under.

PS. Sorry I can't link directly, but the website comes back with an "operation timed out," response whenever I try to just use a saved link. But, do look for that USS Holland photo and check out her deceptive bow camouflage.
