U 201 - Revell 1:72 VII C
« on: 30 Jun , 2009, 00:38 »
I am about to begin my build of the U 201 for the camouflaged ships campain over at MSW.

Heres the original:

Theres a connection with my U 6 that I build some months ago ....  ;)

So far I mostly have been shopping and planning - I have the following updates that I plan to use:

Modelbrass, deck and stuff ...
AMP - vents and torpedohatches
CMK - turret and guns update

I plan on the usual updates, dealing with the inaccuracies of the hull, giving it the correct floodholes for the U 201, building a innerhull and try out some "oilcanning"

I have been experienting with a base, but cant make my mind up if its too much ...

Comments and input is, as allways, very welcome....

Cheers/Jan

I LIKE it! I like the wood, and the proportions. MAAAAAAYbe the base is a bit thick, but not so thick as to take away. The finials are excelent. It's very classy, I vote YES.

Hi Jan,

I'm sure Schnee would like to have seen both your U 201 and U 6.

The base looks good. I always like a nice wooden base and either brass or wooden finials.

By the way, the photo you posted is U 617 with a Mittelmeerturm (Mediterranean tower). The Med boats often had aesthetic paint schemes. There were a few U 201 photos posted on the forum a while back.

Cheers,

Dougie

Hi Jan,
I actually have most of the pictures of U-201 (with captioning) Dougie is talking about (22 of them) conveniently in one PDF file (12.5 MB). If you are interested, hit me up and I will either email it to you or post it on MediaFire.
