Did you guys see this U-boat bunker build?

It's been a long time since I've visited, and Wink was nice enough to come looking for me, so I'm back with this build of a U-boat bunker on another site (actually one devoted to airplanes):

It's pretty ingenious to build a bunker like that. Amazing, too, that those bunkers weren't either blasted apart after the war or somehow converted to another usage. I guess they're too expensive to demolish, and too specialized to be useful. In any case, the guy building the dio is a really nice person, too.

NICE concrete, off to an excellent start. I think it's a great way to display.

Destroying bunkers - the Allies tried early in the war, but were too late. They should have struck just a few weeks earlier while under construction. The bunkers were built really well ( a LOT of concrete). I would love to have a Secret Lair in a sub pen.

I spent a few years in one of these pens, they were impressive. The germans built 3 i Norway. One i Bergen and two (one was never finished) in Trondheim. The story went that they used russian prisoners of war as labours and 6 of them fell into the concretepour and was never recovered. The allied engineertroops tried to demolish the pen in Bergen after the war but gave up. I guess you can still see the pens today it was simply too expensive to destroy them.

hello' mates its been a long time ! after a bit of bad health . had a car accident in 2011 but came throught with a couple of ruptured  disks . in short all of your well wishes have helped me pull myself up and as they say whatever does not kill you will make you stronger checked out siaras blog good show for my mate .and love this bunker dio . will post some completed projects a.s.a.p till then good wishes to all my mates out there .and love the new updated forum commander !

I am really glad that you made it through and in better health. They say working on our hobby helps to heal faster.....so get to work......lol! Glad to have you back.
