ya, it really is. I just watched a doco on a Russian Typhoon being stripped to nothing..challenging, interesting...heart breaking. The largest, coolest sub reduced to literally nothing. All that was in the pic above, too.

Its bad enough that this is happening, but why isn't she being scrapped in a British shipyard? At least then some out of work Brits could get paychecks.
Some years back the US Congress finally did something right and required that nearly all scrapped warships be scrapped in US yards. It turns out that the reason foreign scrappers were able to bid so high for the old ships and still profit was that they didn't follow any environmental rules or concerns. Asbestos? What's that? Now, a surplus USN warship will either be scrapped in a US yard or turned into a beneficial offshore reef. At least that way the US gets some economic benefit from the ships.

About time. It' amazing to see such stupidity, but I guess we elect them! (tho the choice is always poor)
