HORTEN Go 229-A1 from 1/72 to 1/48...
« on: 25 Nov , 2010, 11:04 »
This flying Wing is a pure gem ; it's the ultimate and best aerodynamic shape (in my opinion).
I love this X plane, the Horten brothers were visionary and passionate pilots.

I have 3 horten kits, but the first one will be the 1/72 scale one.

Some pics from the newly WIP:

This will be once again a without after markets build. The main goal is to have quickly a finished model with a Afrika K. camo.
A parked "ready to scramble" flying wing...

I know that this subject is widely reviewed but i hope you'll enjoy.

Cheers,
Pepper.

 ;). Thanks you mates !
The  last plane i made hum...., a F111 from hasegawa. Maybe in 1993...

Greif, i found a lot of conversions between the luftwaffe RLM and tamiya acryl. But they give all different
mixtures... I have the RAL references, it's great but i need the Tam. conversions.

Maybe you have a reliable link giving the right desert camo color panel ?

Thanks in advance, it will be very helpfull.

Pepper,

It may help a little, try http://www.paint4models.com/paintchart/paintconversionchart20100101a.html#
check the boxes at the bottom to what you want to cross reference it has 26 references to cross, including RLM, RAL, etc....

Hope it helps!

Cheers!

Hi Pepper, I use a program called Paint Assistant to get the colors I want when painting a model.  If the desert color you are referring to RLM 79?  If so Tamiya XF09 is about a 95% match.  You can add about 10% blue to XF09 to get it to about 98%.  If you are referring to RLM 05, Tamiya XF-60 is a 90% match.

This two seater will be a desktop model : closed cockpit / black canopy / flying configuration.
I think that dougie's topic had a great influence on me : for what do i make models... This one will stay on my desktop somewhere you can see and touch it.

Artwork on picture (on WIP step) :

All the best... ;)

Learning and hand drawing the wing, the desktop model...

working on the wing's future, transforming a two S. to a one seater, with new electronics / power plant and for the moment unarmed (could be towered and remoted 20mm AA guns).

Cheers,

ya, it's funny to hear all the UFO stories...many near airports. Hmmm, is it an aircraft of some kind (top secret or mundane and at night), or a craft from 20 bazillion light years away, that no one has ever seen before?

I saw a floating light in the sky some years ago, just barely moving, and silent, un-plane, not-so-helicoptery...after driving for a min more or so, came closer..was a blimp with a lit sign, on April Fools day!

splif break ?  ;D ;D ;D ;D
Noooo not 20 bazillion, earlier =) ; it's a German/nazi X-plane from the HORTEN brothers. (They began with sailplanes).
the WIP model, this morning a dark yellow coat :

Hi Pepper-M

The sheme look cool!

I was thinking if you charge the Hexagon shape to a polygon that look like a basic shape of a bird feather, and then blend this to end of wings. The plane wing may look like a wing of a bird ;D

A polygon is any shape usually closed.

Below is an example of a interlocking polygon. You could replace the lizard with a bird feather.

Snowman, do you know an artist called M.C. ESHER ? A great artist ! ;) I will keep my hexagon sheme, need to fly above desert battle field on low altitude/high speed, the Rheinmetal-Borsig 30mm "vierling" is ready, mouahahahahahahahaha !!!

Greif : yes ! When my "SEEHUND" will be near the primer coat step, i will start the Horten one seater 1/48 from Dragon (not the revell 1/72 seen in my first posts), but with additional details >
Maybe we could start together ? It would be a pleasure  :)
