F4U Corsair

I'm reading about The Black Sheep Squadron (a book by same title, Tom Gamble - dry but good info). Anyway, I remember my Revell 1:32 Corsair from 1978-ish, she was huuuuge! Even though I have a thousand projects and another thousand non-models, and am trying to finish the Graf Zepp, and more than start my Gato, the F4u is calling..calling after all those years...so much engine, so cool looking...

So, anyone know of any good recent releases of a 1:32 Corsair? Something comparable to the Tamiya Spitfire? I can't find much in searches.

Both seem to have Eduard Detail sets that can be added. The set are listed below the description. I have to say that sounds like an awesome project!  Seen some on flight deck diorama with the wings up...Sweet!

Thanks, T, good link. I just ordered the Trumpeter from a small shop, will be a few weeks but I'm in zero hurry.

I also got the Osprey "Modelling the F4U Corsair" which has a large chunk on the Trumpeter. I guess the Eduard seatbelt set is something else, the pix look amazingly real anyway. I'm going to do the Cke can cowl flap idea I read online, and might vac form a canopy (the kit ones - any - are all waaay too thick on the edges), and maybe add some thin metal in the canopy track.

The kit is a -1D, prolly going to backdate to the 1A. Have to pick a good VF, prolly VMY Marines, not sure which one... maybe do a dio base, pilot emerging and maintenance NCO examining damage? Crushed coral base, or perhaps will etch some marsten mat... tho there is the carrier deck, too...

That sound awesome!  I am looking forward to see some of the build.  I say go for making your own wooden flight deck.  Pick up some Basswood and go right over the base.   A bunch of oil stains & chipping would look sweet!  I have been planning for a while but sooooooo many aircraft to choose from.

Love to see pics of the kit when it comes in.
