Hi Gents,

afterwards you will find a link to the model kit shop "Modellbau Koenig". The german company "Das Werk" will release a submarine kit from the First World War in 1/72 in January 2021 ("SMS U9", Commander Otto Wedding):
https://www.modellbau-koenig.de/Schiffe/Schiffsmodelle-groesser-als-1-350/Deutsch/S-M-U-Boot-9-WWI-German-Submarine

Like many others I have waited a long time for a WW1 submarine kit in 1/72 scale with reasonable price. The price is 89 Euro (104 USD) for pre-orders until mid November, afterwards 116 Euro.

More to see - sprue trees and a pdf-preview - from SMS U9 under the following link to the company "Das Werk":

Best regards

The parts Andy mentioned as snorkel are the exhaust pipe/funnel for the petroleum engine of course.

Hello Seafarers,

the company "Das Werk" is releasing a diorama to go with SMS U9. The scale is 1/72 but it can also be used for any other ship type in 1/72. According to "Das Werk" the dry dock can be used for ships of different nations in the period from about 1890 to 1960. The kit for a dry dock with accessories consists of prints and laser-cut real wood.

Outstanding, especially when you think you can build one in what, some 20 mins? Amazing, and very convincing
Falo now am waiting for your U9 build+diorama to start!

Hi SG,

I have started the IXC/40 (1/72 scale) for a while, but in the midst of opening the flood slots and outboard plugs, I paused for now, as I have now - since spring 2020 - become a hobby beekeeper and have much to learn. But I have actually bought the U-9 kit including etched parts and will soon start an inbox review here in the forum, I promise. The dock diorama I find really great but I would also have space problems here where I live.

Best regards
