1/96 Revell Cutty Sark
« on: 01 Apr , 2014, 00:55 »
Thought i would post some pics of my 1/96 Revell Cutty Sark that is on the waiting list to completion.
I originally bought this model from ebay several years ago when ebay was young.
The model itself is quite old im guessing late 60's
The plastic is very brittle and when i used CA, the accelerator would literally make the plastic around what i was gluing shatter.

Here you see the current hull waiting on some weathering.

I get no help from this guy,, all he dos is stand around all day with a goofy grin on his face.

Im somewhat proud of how the deck turned out. it was a complicated experiment.

I stumbled across some pretty amazing  paint for the hull plating. It's "Copper Premium Foil Metallic Spray Paint" by Krylon

Sadly though im not sure when i will get back to it. Though im pretty sure those old plastic sails are disintegrating in their boxes  :'(   ;)   ;D

Stunning result so far. So you have decided to give priority to the Cutty Sark! well as far as i can see it wont take much to resume work on U352! well done, keep it up and keep posting updates. Top marks for the wooden deck.
Krylon produces very fine spray paints: i've purchased the matte finish to use it as a primer after reading excellent reviews  about it on the ship model forum.
Am looking forward to see the Cutty Sark completed very soon!!
cheers

PS: throw that useless, lazy grinning geezer overboard!  ;D

Fantastic! Very nice looking deckwork!

Sails - Plastic? Forget that man! You want AMP FABRIC sails and flags. We can supply something I'm sure.

Humm, a whole fabric sail and flag kit for a 1/72 Cutty Sark.  Now that sounds like a big undertaking. :D

WE could print the seams and you could stitch in the reefs and such! The fabric is coated, so good for shaping and very anti-fray.

Did you ever get back to this one and finish it? You were doing great with it up to this point.
