Von Braun Retriever Rocket
« on: 13 May , 2018, 18:49 »
 Greetings!

Designed by Dr. Werner von Braun in the 1950's, this model is built from the 1/72 scale Glencoe reissue of the original Strombecker kit from 1957.  Display enhancements include LED lighting and a separate Bottle Suit with custom external manipulator arms and display base.  Thanks for having a look, questions and comments are always welcome.

 Cheers,

 Bill

Nice work, and nice concept. Have you seen the Disney miniseries with Von Braun? (from back in the 1950s)

Thanks Rokket!
This was an easy and fun build.  The LED setup in the display base was very simple and not expensive.  The Disney series is a classic! Very well done for that time and still presents well after 60 years!

Good to hear about the LED setup. I remember kits back in the 1980s' required you to become an electronics expert and build that all separately from Radio Shack parts.
