Hello folks,
U-Boot im Focus edition 11 is now out. It is the usual quality product with first class artwork.
This edition has a particularly good story about U 64, which was sunk in 1940 in Norwegian waters. Usually when boats get sunk there are two outcomes, loss of life or capture. But with the U 64 story, many of the men made it home to Germany. This edition tells the story of the sinking and how many of the men got home. There is even a photo of the men on the ship Der Deutsche to make the section really complete. I don’t want to spoil it too much but there are several colour photos showing the boat after it had been raised (and the photos are brilliant).
Other highlights include a close up of a Vierling on the cover, a camouflage scheme on the tower of U 24, and the shark’s teeth on the bow of U 438. Luftfahrtverlag-Start do decals in 144th and 72nd of these shark teeth insignia so it is good to see photos of this on the real boat.
Cheers,
Dougie
