Lunar Models Aries from 2001: A Space Odyssey

Greetings!
This is my recent build of the ancient Lunar Models resin kit of the Aries. Perhaps the first Aries in kit form when it was offered in the 1980's, it is very crude by current standards and is seriously lacking in both accuracy and quality. Probably better to think of this as the Aries 1A rather than the 1B featured in the film due to the glaring issues with accuracy. Anyway, I enjoyed this project and decided to scratch build the engines and heavily modify the landing gear as the kit parts are horrible. Added a separate scratch built landing platform and LED lighting to both the spacecraft and landing pad which helped greatly with the completed display. Although it will never accurately represent the Aries 1B from the film, I think it does capture the feel of the Aries. Thanks for having a look, please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Cheers,
Bill

Love the Lighting effects. Nice job with the lighting for the photos also.
Where have you been pulling all of these neat models out from? Way to cool.
Thanks for sharing.

I almost sent this ancient kit to the rubbish bin - it is very crude. In the 1980's Lunar Models was the only source for this kit, the Atomic City kit from the late 1990's offered by CaptCBoard (Scott Alexander) is so very much superior.
