Title: Platinum Edition -> Uboat VIIC/41 (Product: 05163)

Hi,

according to IPMS Deutschland Revell will reintroduce the Uboat VIIC/41 (1/72) as a platinum edition during March 2019:

I suppose they will beef up the well known kit with pe and maybe a wooden deck.

Looks like Revell added a pe set and a wooden deck to the kit (maybe also turned brass parts for example the periscopes and the AA-gun barrels?)

Hi Gents,

last weekend I have got my hands on the Platinum Edition and took some pics for a review.

The sprues are the well known plastic from the VIIC/41, so IMO no need for a review here. But the interesting matter for this forum are the additions: The wooden deck, the photo etched frets and the turned brass (periscopes, AA-Guns etc.) are from the company Pontos.

Please have a look at the attached pictures: The first two pics are showing the photos from the box of the Revell Platinum kit.

So the major change in the kit is the addition of the Pontos upgrade set??

yes the Pontos set is the only change.

Thanks for that. I have the protos kit and the sub kit so I don't need to dream as hard about buying this new kit.

Got it the new kit!    (I could not resist... sigh)
I have the VIIC and its matching Pontos detail set.
However, I could not find a standalone Pontos detail set for the VIIC/41... ?

IMO Pontos produced the additional set exclusive for Revell. Maybe Pontos will sell it as a stand-alone aftermarket set after a while.
