Title: Deck and deck's load-bearing structure
Post by: bianco64squalo on 04 Jul , 2017, 03:04
Hi everybody,
in my Trumpeter U-552, I have the possibility to make visible the underlying load-bearing structure of the deck, above the pressure hull ( see the first posted photo, from another German modeler ); obviously I have to open all the holes and hatches on the kit plastic deck ( see second posted photo ), and then I have to put on the RCSUBS photohetched deck that I bought ( sse third photo I posted ).
The question is: is there anyone who know something about this under deck structure ? And more, is there any key for knowing the function of all the hatches and holes present in the deck ?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Filippo

The attached photo is the only one that I found, that maybe can help me: are those U-Boats under construction of Type VIIC ?

Hi Filippo,

yes the photo shows type VIIC boats. You clearly see the saddle tanks.

Without help from forum's experts, I'm not able to match deck slots pattern and hatches with under deck structure visible in the photo I posted....

I was perusing some of the older threads hunting for info and came across Fillippo's question (prayers for his wife). I had found a couple pics the other day on U-Historia so I thought I'd put them up here in case anyone would find them useful.
