Hi guys,
I'm new here and have been spending lots of time reading up on some super builds.
I am part way through a build of the Revell 1/72 kit but have come to the point where the conning tower and other deck railings need to be fitted.
Unfortunately, my kit was one of the early Revell boxings with badly packed parts. And yes, the plastic railing in the kit were badly broken when I unpacked everything.
Rather than mess around, I thought I might have a go at making up brass rod replacements and guess what? I found Gabriekl's item on making railings out of brass rod!

Now, I have a question! I would like to make a wooden former, or 'plug' as Gabriel calls it, but do not know the dimensions/ measurements.

I would need the upper and lower diameters of the plug faces and the height of the plug. From these I might be ale to make my own copy.

Gabriel, if you read this, I wonder if you might measure your 'plug' and post the measurements up for me.
Also, what size of brass rod did you use for your railings?

Thanking you all in anticipation.

Dave

Here's the original article by Gabriel from my old build site: http://www.rokket.biz/modelsweb/rokket/u557/gabrielbenzur.shtml

Inspired by him, I used a little wood and made the angle follow photos. Nothing too scientific. http://www.rokket.biz/modelsweb/rokket/u557/prog14.shtml
