Title: Novel base for a typeseven (1/72)
Post by: falo on 27 Apr , 2014, 16:40: IMO a clever way to show a 1/72 typeseven in lively water and simultaneously in a usual display style. Don't know anything about the costs but the idea is maybe worth it.

That's a lot of resin = a lot of money and it would have to be a big mould, come to think of it postage would big big too :o

yes I agree: A lot of resin and heaviness on the shipping side. Maybe a self moulding solution is the cheaper way. The idea is IMO still a good one.

Ok it's a type twenty-one and 1/144 scale but IMO it's also a good idea to present the cmk interior sections on the other side.

thanks your are right and I just forget that kit. Revell of Germany offer or offered a cutaway type twenty one. But AFAIK it has resp. had a very basic interior. Maybe a canvas for a super detailer ...

keywords "interior" and "exterior": Please follow this link, you will see a very well documented kit build of the Revell typeseven (scale 1/72). IMO nearly every aftermarket set (interior and exterior) was used for the kit. Don't know if this website was announced, so I apologize if I repeat it.

Sorry falo, 2 VIIs a c and a c/41, probably Mirage-Hobby, which would make them 1:400, although the description says 1:350 U 96 and U 995, the 1:400 U 295 is the only VII one I know of with Bibers, the VIIC could be either U 40 or U 570.

Might be just me but the figures look a little large and could be 1:350

Still a good job with the water

I think your right about the VIIC/41 with the Bibers, AFV club are not on my stash list, so now I know 2, (learn something new every day), lots of choice for a VIIC in 1:350 although I still think the figures look a bit overscaled to me. Still good work though, I thought the missile launch was a clever and different scene.

Good find, yes 1:700 U-boats are fiddly, I've built a couple of 1:700 U-boats and used their PE radar and anti air guns before on a couple of builds. At least you don't need a extension to the house to build a diorama and they are relatively cheap.

found a review of the above mentioned Flyhawk boat and diorama. It's german but the pictures are IMO very meaningful. According to the author of the review the kit is highly recommended.

Post by: iceonaboy on 22 Jan , 2015, 06:00: When I was a kid, we used to make little dioramas for ships out of washing powder. If you mix it with just a little water it makes a paste that you can shape and it hardens for painting. Just a thought. ;)
