Great work! It was the work that you have been doing on your build that gave me the inspiration to take a slower and better approach to my build. I was going to enter my build in a contest in sept (by rushing the build, which I wasn

Glad to hear it Wildspear! ;)
It feel so good when people say things like that. Makes all the work worth it.

Today i collected the nameplate:

I was planning the brass plate, but eventually turned to perspex, as the U-boats badge will provide bit of gold accent on the plank allready.
I think it looks mint.

Weather was outstanding lately, so modelling came to the standstill.
Im dry fiting all the bits and bobs on the stand, and came up with something like so:

Obviously when all the painting is done i will remove the temporary timber, and fix themodel to the mahogany plank using proper brass finials.

I was raking my brains about the welds. Plan was to make them using tape, and filler technique, even came up with the tool to make the weld texture:

...but thanks to my friend who recommended me this site my headache is history:
http://www.archertransfers.com/

They offer excellent transfers imitating welds, rivets, cloth stitching, vehicle markings, and many many more superb detailed products.
I ordered the set of welds.
Till the parcell arrive....in enjoing the weather. ;D

Thanks for good words Rokket! Always highly appreciated.
When i get the decals through the post i will do full review- You can bank on that. It is new technique to me, and im curious as much as the next man. From what ive heard they look good.
After some debate on subsim forum i decided on some more extra details to the display. My friend Conus00 came up with the idea of adding the devil cap badge to balance the display.
Heres how it looks like in photoshop project:

I just ordered one from E-bay. Whats Your view on that chaps? Does it look ok or not?

I finally find the shop stocking all the bits i always struggled to find in my area.
Especially it was hard finding the small diameter brass tubes.

While there i got some extra supplys, some glue and debonder, and gloss varnish needed for fixing the Archer weld lines.

The devils badge:

I decided to use both badges only, and drop the cross from the display.
That way i get better balance.

Siara,

How did the transfers work out? I've been looking at those for my gato since I had to sand quite a bit of the rivets and weld lines while working on the build.
