Sweet, I wonder how many refittings at the yard after patrols those trimmarks would survive - where they welds or only painted on ?

I believe they were all welded, below is a picture of the Starboard middle. Also the other marks were welded. Second picture is using high contrast to enhance the picture.

I thought they were welded on- ive seen the modern ships markings, and that was the case.
Thanks Simon for great pics. ;)

Postshading.
For bottom of the saddle tanks, and lower p. hull i postshaded using base colour mixed with Tamiya Smoke, and gradually i aded smoke, and finally black for the lowest surfaces.

The whole conning tower was sealed with Extracrylics flat varnish to protect the decals, and provide flat surface for filters.
All the black (remember it was too black) surfaces were lightened, and faded using the new MIG`s filter P404.

Lovely jubbly! ;D

Thank you guys.
Applied further filters- P240 (Blue) for all light colour, and P-242 for areas under the rails, under hatches and so on.
Sealed the lot with gloss varnish ready for oils, and washes.

I also cleaned the paint from GHG sensors.

U-552 will be from 10-th of may 1941, the day she claimed her first deck gun victim- trawler Reykyaborg.
I will weather it, but not as much as on that picture i dont think. ;D

While waiting for paint to cure before oils, the screws were installed.
The screws are Reboesh brass screws, weathered for 1 year in salty water, and vinegar.

Paint fading below the waterline:

Now all the rusty streaks will stop at this line.
