Kruppwerkes diorama
« on: 17 Oct , 2009, 14:27 »
Hi gentlemen,

One of our forum members, Don Marsh, has built a diorama which I believe will be of great interest. Photos can be seen at -

http://svsm.org/gallery/nats2009-dioramas

The photos are P1610861.jpg to P1610865.jpg

The diorama is in 125th scale and depicts the Krupp workyards at Kiel. This building is very distinctive, and can be seen in many photos of U-boats under construction. Don used the old 125th Revell VIIB kits for the U-boats under construction. The rest is all scratchbuilt.

I'm sure you will agree this excellent project is not an ordinary out-of-the-box-build!

Cheers,

Dougie

How long did it take to build?

I saw this doirama at the IPMS National in Colombus Ohio this last August. I know the builder personally. My U-201 dio sat next to this. He won 1st in ship dios, I got a respectful 3rd place.  It took him 2 years to build this. It took me 9 months to build my dio.
Regards,
Dan
