Title: GUPPY info request
Post by: Rokket on 12 Jan , 2008, 00:07
This from "Frigate" at Modelshipwrights: (http://www.modelshipwrights.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=111996&page=1#923271) (http://(http://www.modelshipwrights.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=111996&page=1#923271))

"Folks,
Looking over Trumpeter's 1/144th Gato hull again, the interest is really increasing on doing a mod to one of the "GUPPY" boats. I know Iron Bottom Sound produces a conversion pack for this, but ...   ... Plus I'd rather scratchbuild the sail area to include what I want. What I'm wondering, has anyone found or seen any decent plans for the sail on the GUPPY boats ? Scale really doesn't matter, I can adjust.
I appreciate any information, Thanks Crew.......................Bruce"

Hi Rokket, I'm sorry. I meant to answer that a while back, and forgot. Old Timer's disease, you know?
Anyhow. Once again, Floating drydock, is the place. If you want a North Atlantic sail (Big square sucker), that would be USS Bang (SS-385). If you want a Portsmouth step sail, go for USS Tirante (SS-420).
If you need pictures, let me know what type sail, and I'll send what I have.

Just for clarity, there are 4 basic sails, EB Step, Portsmouth step, North Atlantic and Guppy III(longer North Atlantic). But to use the Guppy III you'll also have to Guppy and lengthen the hull.

Ask and ye shall recieve.
Mike K.
