greetings all
« on: 10 Mar , 2010, 20:00 »
Hello I wanted to introduce myself as a new member of the forum (no not the roman one :). I have been a member at Subsim for a while and have done a few mods for that game which I play feverishly. I love all things WW2 and especially the type VII u boat. I recently learned about you guys and I am astounded by the community spirit and quality of the builds I have seen here. I am undertaking a build of the 1 72 scale Revell "wolfpack" type VIIC. In addition I am going to be building the interior details sets (4 from Czech masters) and will attempt a cutaway view of the hull. Finally I am hoping to rig the interior with red LED running lights. I have always been more attracted to the interior of these vessels and thus my approach. I would like to make posts of the build as I go, hoping your professional advice and encouragement will go along way during my humble attempts to build this model! Alas my passion and enthusiasm for u boats are a tad more plentiful than my building skills! But I will give it my best shot....

Brett

Hi Brett, welcome to the forum, it is a great place to be!  I am also working on an interior build project using the CMK sets.  It is on temporary hold while I work on my DKM Bismarck build.  I have completed the Engine Room and Galley/PO Qtrs sections.  The pictures are posted under the "Greif's New Uboat Project" thread on this board.  If you have questions feel free to ask.

thank you for the welcome, this place is very inspiring. I have the u boat and on Monday the interiors arrive, tomorrow its off to gather paints and brushes. I will work on the interiors first, then when they are done I will proceed to the hull....well that's the plan anyway ::)

@NZsnowman, I first saw your work over at subsim and was exited to find an extensive thread dedicated to your top class drawings here.,. Ive been reading my way through your thread eagerly, very nice work

@siara, thanks, Ive followed your build, U552 at your blog. I had to see a specialist, though, as my jaw had frozen in the dropped position due to viewing your blog too often.

@Greif Ive been over to your thread and have it bookmarked, incredible work, very inspiring. Could you tell me were you got the crew figurines?

Hi Brett, the crew figures are a mis from CMK and Andrea.  I ordered them from Sprue Brothers.  The best sets to get for the interior are the following sets:

CMK:
"Crew Loading Supplies"
"Crew at Rest 1"
"Crew at Rest 2"

Andrea:
The set contains 8 figures, four or five of them have the right poses for interiors.  I can't remember the set number but it is the one showing crewmwn working on deck.

Hi Brett,

I found my uboat build to be a challenge that actually made those scary things easy, hopefully you will too. We're all looking forward to seeing your build as you go. Oh, and welcome!

Brett, it's also worth it to go back to some of the oldest threads on this site too.

Even the ones that are no longer active often have a lot of good information from some of the people who've been around here a lot longer than I have.
