Thank you for the comments! I have been wanting to do a 1/72 U-505 for some time. Getting all the research together is key in a project like this. I live about 12 hours away from the U-505 itself. I went to see it in it's new home in 2010. It was a trip I would recommend to anyone. Note that the Boot has some accuracy issues, it is still awesome to see. The photos people have sent me including my great friend Dougie, and the photos and videos I have seen on the internet have been a great help. WWII veterans have also helped but memories fad after 60 plus years.
I am now working on deck details. Then on to the detail on the hull including Trop doors bow and stern. All the rivets, seams, and welds are a major undertaking all by themselves. So as you can see I have lots to do yet. Bored, I don't think so...
