Title: U-94 emblem under Oblt. Otto Ites?
Post by: cola on 10 Jan , 2014, 08:05
Hi Everyone,

Can someone tell me if Oblt Otto Ines used the same conning tower emblem as Kptlt. Herbert Kuppisch as commander of U-94?

I have the ULAD pt 3 that has the small animal biting the lion...I think on the pt 1 sheet it has the Snorting Bulls...that's what's confusing me.

The pic is in April 1941 under Kuppisch.

Thanks a million!!

Tony

Hi Tony,

Yes, the animal tugging the lion was continued on when Ites was in command. There is a photo of U 94 in 1942 in St Nazaire with the animal / lion emblem on each side, and one snorting bull (facing to the left and positioned centrally at the front of the tower).

If you do wish to have the combination of lion and snorting bull I would advise adding the wind deflector flange at the top of the tower of your model. At this time in 1942, the upper colour of U 94 was Dunkelgrau 51 (or possibly Schlickgrau 58) but it certainly wasn't Hellgrau 50.

Cheers,

Dougie
