Title: U552 ( drainage ? ) holes on conning tower
Post by: bianco64squalo on 06 Mar , 2018, 01:28
Hi everybody,
I''m searching some evidence for making the holes on the top of access steps at conning tower of U552; the only photo I found is that one I posted, but it's only of port side and not very focused....
I found, on this site ( http://u-552.blogspot.it/ ), a pattern for port and starboard sides ( see posted photo ): is it correct?
Thanks for replies...
Filippo

Hi Filippo,

There port and starboard sides on the model are not quite correct. It is not easy to see the pattern but you should be able to identify the port side from a combination of these two photos -

I don't have any photos of the starboard side but it can be seen in this photo of U 564 -

U 564 is from the same shipyard as U 552 (B&V). The characteristic of this B&V pattern is the two gaps.

Cheers,

Dougie
