TYPE VII / Re: Howdy
« Last post by tankerken on 01 Feb , 2024, 15:09 »
The old Revell kit is not as bad as people think it is; the basics are there, it just needs some refinement and details added. I've seen people put as much or more work into the new Revell 1/72 scale kits, and even the Trumpeter 1/48 scale kit.
It's also the only real option available if you want a Type VIIB.

Welcome aboard!
Wow, that's a great model: great painting, a fair amount of superdetailing and the crew also!  8) The old Revell kit demands (too) many attentions. Been in my stash for years, i never dared building it. Very well done, Bravo!

Here are some more interior photos. I apologize for the crappy images; this was done long before digital cameras became available.

TYPE VII / Howdy

Hi, my name is Ken, and I am the newest member of this forum. As my screen name implies, I used to operate tanks for the US Army. I love submarines, especially U-Boats. I have been building models of U-Boats since I was a kid, sadly, I don't have photos of most of them.
One that I do have photos of is my U-99 model, that I built many years ago using the old Revell 1/96 scale U-99 and U-47 kits.

AMP NEWS / Re: CLOSING DOWN
« Last post by MrZaggy on 21 Jan , 2024, 07:33 »
As a fairly new member (only the second half of last year) who is fairly new to this area (and thus never really had much to say on here), this is sad news about AMP closing, like many other small producers for our hobby.

But keeping such a wonderful resource open and functioning for the betterment of the community is seriously awesome! thanks very much...

SUBS: other / Re: SLC "maiale" 1/400 scale WIP
« Last post by SG on 22 Dec , 2023, 16:48 »
The tools bonnet was a hard nut to crack  ;D . Used 0.06 mm Shelf Oddity wire and shaped subassembiles that were glued together with Ca and diluted acrylic glue, trying to avoid buildups. Piece D was difficult to shape and required many modelling sessions (a month or so) to be crafted. RP Toolz micro-handles bending tool and Tamiya "flat tweezers for PE" helped a lot. The bonnet is SMALL  ;D , nevertheless crisp and pretty convincing. I hope you like it.

WIP pics:

closeups, dry-fitting to SLC main body and usual comparision with my index finger for my friend Falo.

Merry Christmas everyone!   ;)
