Hi Simon,

Don't know about Black May. But the second one - dou mean Robert Stern's Battle Beneath The Waves: The U-Boat War? If so I would definitely get a copy. Stern covers some well known/popular stories regarding U-boats. Each of the chapters is an enjoyable read.

Cheers,

Dougie

Think I've seen a pic, it's one I studied for ballast tank covers. Bit of dc damage (bent here and there), and Brits climbing on it.

Hi Simon,

I have "Doenitz and the Wolf Packs" but it was several years since I read it. I think it was quite good, with some good info on the early wolf packs. Have you started reading your copy?

Cheers,

Dougie

Hi.  I'm currently reading "Shattered Sword", by Parshall and Tully.  Examines the Battle of Midway from the Japanese perspective.  It's an imposing looking tome but it is extremely well written and "readable".  Some interesting examinations about Japanese strategy, or lack thereof, in mid-1942 after the early successes and the interservice squabbles that plagued the Japanese military.  Not terribly complimentary of Yamamoto.  I'd recommend it to anybody with an interest in the Battle of Midway or the Pacific Theater in general.

If anyone want to read a great naval story. I just finish reading Pursuit - The Chase and Sinking of the Bismarck by Ludovic Kennedy, I can highly recommended.
