U 994 photos on auction site
« on: 03 Nov , 2008, 05:57 »
Hi guys,

There's a whole load of U 994 photos on Ebay at the moment. Just go to -

http://www.ebay.com/

Then type in U-994

This one shows U 994 during commissioning in September 1943 with a Turm II -

This one shows U 994 in 1944 with a Turm IV (much wider upper platform than on Turm II) -

There is a very good chance the museum boat U 995 also had a Turm II when launched and then a Turm IV later on.

The auctions end tomorrow so not a lot of time to see all the photos.

Cheers,

Dougie

What are those things fitted at both sides of the railings?

Hi Nicolas,

Not sure. I haven't seen them before. There is still much we can learn about late war boats. More photos needed...

Cheers,

Dougie

Hi Dougie47 do you have any copies of this Photos????
my girlfriend is an grandson of a man from u-994.
we try to reconstruct her grandfathers time on U-994.
We search for some Photos of this U-Boat...
The things that were fitted on the Railing were probably construtions to fire Anti-aircraft Rockets

I would be grateful for an answer.

Greetings from Germany
Andreas

Hello Andreas,

Thanks for your message. When the photos were on sale I took copies, though they aren't great quality. Despite the quality they are interesting photos and I think you'll like them. If you send me a PM with your email address then I'll email the U 994 photos to you.

U 994 was launched with a Turm II tower (one 20mm on the upper platform, plus one 20mm on the lower platform). In 1944 a Turm IV tower was in place (two twin 20mms on the upper platform, plus one 37mm on the lower platform).

Cheers,

Dougie
