Artesania Latina Mare Nostrum Restoration

(1/2) > >>

Mr. Bill:
 Greetings!
Recently completed restoration of a decades old build of the Mare Nostrum kit from Artesania Latina.  The original build was done by the father of my client and she wanted to have this kit restored.  Over the years, the model suffered damaged and was coated with dust and grim.  Restoration work involved repairs, cleaning, rebuilding, enhancements, additions, refinishing and a display stand.   Along with the completion photos, I have included a few images of the unrestored model as I received it.  Many thanks for having a look, your questions and comments are always welcome.
 Cheers,
 Bill

Amazing!

You had to tear her totally apart... Are you sure this is not completely new built model?  ;D
Regards,Antti

Mr. Bill:
Hi Anakin -
The original build was in very bad shape and it would have been easier to just build a new kit, but the client wanted a restoration.  I did almost have to rebuild this entire model which involved very careful removal of everything down to the hull and deck . . . .

Much of the hull planking on the original build had separated with large gaps . . . . . .

42rocker:
Nice restore.. You did good work. Thanks for sharing what you did.

Later Tim

Mr. Bill:
Thanks Tim,
Here are some close up images of the hull after restoration . . . .
