Some great stuff at:

Books and DVDs on cool sub stuff. Had shopping cart trouble trying to purchase, but hopefully that was just me.

That is a really useful site. Their "The Fleet Submarine" is actually a reproduction of US Navy's NavPers 16160. This is everything you ever wanted to know about US Fleet Boats, and, probably, a lot you didn't.
If you want a preview go here: http://www.maritime.org/fleetsub/index.htm
That's the whole thing.
The book is all black and white, but, if you go to the online version, you can copy and print out the color stuff and paste them in the book.
The large drawings, in the index, really need legal size paper to be done right.

Again, bowing to you wisdom!  ;DMaybe I could save some $$$ by NOT buying it, since I have preserved all NAVPERS. Excellent point, thank Mike!

True, you could save money by not buying it. But, if you want to take it with you, you'll have to print it out (fairly expensive) and bind it (equally, not cheap). Periscope Film's version is a nice paper back book, 8.5" X 10", 204 pages plus drawings. The black and white photos and drawings are clean and clear. Considering the cost for paper and ink cartridges, not to mention the aggravation involved, it really is cheap.

Besides, if you'rer really into the technical stuff, this is the kind of book you sit down with, and, a couple of minutes later, you wife says' "WELL?.. You skipped breakfast and lunch. Do you plan to skip dinner, TOO?" If she's tapping her foot, that you might want to consider finishing it later. Like tomorrow, or the next day.

Go for it, Rokket. You won't regret it. It's one of my best resources, what isn't in it, can be figured out from what is there.

Ah, you're bad for my budget Mike! But I'm gonna go for it. When I have my wallet in front of the computer, my wife rolls her eyes and braces hereself...

I feel for you, Rokket, I don't have that problem. She won't let me have a check book.
I just go to her, weeping and sobbing, it usually works. But, sometimes, I have to hold my breath and turn red, before she gives in.

that behavior reminds me of ...me! And a few Calvin and Hobbes cartoons, when he pants and gasps for air in need of choclate cake: "suu...ubmarine...must have..." ;D

Calvin and Hobbs...? Hmmm. Good comparison.
One should always remember (women take note) men never grow up, they simply get older. As the old adage goes "The difference between, men and boys, is the price of their toys."
Women mature. Men don't. The guy with a Tonka Toy truck, in a sand pile, today, will be the proud owner of a six wheel pickup, tomorrow.
Mention White or Mack to a guy, and his eyes will light up and the smell of diesel fumes will fill the air. To a women White is a color, and Mack is the nickname of a guy named Maxwell. Or a Scotsman. (of course, there are exceptions, but they're in the minority)
I guess this is one on my "Male-chauvinist-sexist-dog-pig" days.
