Does anyone know of a source for plans of the round wartime escape buoys? I'm thinking of scratching my own.
Thanks,
Robert

So am I. Gato (212) had an exposed one : circlular ring around edge of well, top of buoy and two round greeblie bits, very detailed. Others had a manhole cover over (and I can't uite tell, but I think the exposed buoy top style sat just over the well, just above the deck? Maybe wehn they hadded the manhole cover they lowered? Not sure.
Anyway, lucky me, I'm doing Grouper 214, so I figure she and Greenling (213) would be very close to 212, so exposed buoy...I THINK somone on this forum has done a beautiful job on one, could be misremembering...
I'm doing some research, and I might cast a few. Early days yet!
I'll let you know what I find.

Thanks. I'm thinking of SLR-ing some. I'm back at working on a few tiny CAD bits for the model, and I thought, what the heck, the buoys have to be made right.

Wink, I think I've got some BuShips drawings that might help. Any one else who'd like them, email me at mkeatingss(AT)cox(DOT)net.

Hey, guys. I just remembered something. I think Mario, over at IBS (Iron Bottom Sound) had war time bouys available, in 1/72 scale. You might save some aggravation using them.
As I remember, you just cut a hole in the deck and popped tham in.
