Title: Uboat fenders

Hi guys,

does anyone know if/or where I could buy 1:72nd scale fenders?  It does not matter what material they are made from.  I will be using them for the Type IIA diorama I am building.

Those are beautiful! I would say a bit overscale, tho, for 1:72. Mark :Gunny" Smith from ModelShipWrights.com has a brilliant article on making your own rope fenders. It is work but well worth it, altho even these are pretty tricky at 1;72.

That is a neat site. The fenders there are for (1/12- 1/20) larger models.

WWII fenders were usually made out of scrap rope, old rope that was no longer good for tying things up but was too solid to just throw away.  Think of the rope fenders and bow mats that are stereotypical of tug boats

You can easily make WWII type fenders by taking a piece of plastic sprue of the right length and diameter, rounding off both ends, and then taking some jute coloured string or thick thread and wrapping it around and around the sprue until it's completely covered with no plastic showing, only 'rope'.

Make a loop of thread or wire at the top to attach the lanyard that suspends it.
