I was wondering what the view is of fellow modelers on the accracy of the wintergarden railings of the 1:72 Revell IX/C ?
From looking at pictures it appears the real railing were quite thick so the kit might not be too far off maybe a bit of sanding will bring them into speck.
However the manner in which the railings or Stanchions are attached seem different than the kit.
Thoughts on this?

At least one reviewer has recently commented on this.

I think it would be a pig of a job to sand Revell's plastic to get any kind of reasonable result without breaking various parts in the process.
I remember someone on here doing the railings in copper or brass wire a couple of years ago. They made some kind of jig to solder the railing parts together.
I can't find the thread now.

A bit offtopic but i was wondering that tube under the upper winter garten platform... What is it for?

For the regular VIIC tower (with single 20mm gun) here are some 3D printed railings:

Wowzers!
Those brass railings look just the ticket. Has anyone tried them yet?
How do they scale up in comparison to the OEM kit

Hi all,
No idea where I found the info but I have written down in my build notes that the wintergarten railings were 5cm and 3.5cm in diameter, don't know if that helps or not.

Translated to 1/72, that would be 0.027" and 0.020" wire.
Out of necessity, the molded plastic railings are 2x or 3x too thick... but they have to be so they don't break. :/

Hi All,
A 4th set from Tehnoart:
u9-fittings-set-4 (http://www.tehnoart.eu/u9-fittings-set-4.html) - which looks like a good quality set of cast brass deck railings.

GASP! :o
I received my Tehnoart IXC railings last week, and finally unpackaged them last night.
As suspected, they are thick PE railings that will require some elbow grease to round them off. But they appear to be very nicely done, and much more to scale than the kit plastic railings.
But the BIG news is that they also included tower railings!
This was TOTALLY unexpected! I think I did a little 'happy dance.' :D
I don't know if these will be permanently included in their offerings, or if it was just because I mentioned "hey it would be nice if you offered towered railings some day..." when I placed my order.

:) Sometimes they do surprise you... The upper railings looks great!
Looking forward your build!
