....HERE'S SOMETHING DIFFERENT/STRANGE. IT'S LISTED A TYPE IXC. ANY COMMENTS ON THIS STYLE DECK. IT'S NOT NOTICED ON ANY OTHER IN THAT BATCH..BILL
-
bill ' yes this is a strange layout . it is what is called a type 9 c / 40 . the indentations in the forward bow was a modifacation on the type 9 c to help aid diving speed due to the fact that these boats had a slow diving time compared to a type 7 .hope that helped . ;)
-
my correctoin bill . this boat is also designated a type 9 /d2 also . somewhere onlin i have seen large scale plans for this type boat and the caption on the plans was the type 9 c/40 . iwill now go check a few sites and see if i can locate the plans . i will post the address when i do .
-

And about the article, you`re right it is not visible(NOT YET) on the internet,
I have just copied a few lines of the article.
I am still working on it,but when I am finished I will post a link this section of the forum.
vonbulowfla,if these plans are finished can I get my hands of one of these,
I have an unbuild model of the type IX-C/40 in the 1/32 scale, and that will be the U-870(Ernst Hechler),
and yes yes with a ''schnelltauchback''.
Enjoy you`re day guy`s. ;)
my best regards,
Ron.

no problem on the plans ron . what kind of kit do you have ? i know scale shipyards has a fiberglass hull of a type 9 in 1/48 and 1/32 scale just the hulls and conning towers . no detail . let me know . ;D
-
It is indeed a hull from Lee Upshaw(scaleshipyard),
I have 2 CT`s for this boat,a turm I and a turm IV,but I will use only the turm IV.
There are no decks on this boat,I have got few details but that are not gonna be used.
Here are a few pictures of the boat.
The Revell type VII-C is in front.

in the 1/32 scale, for now it is the biggest boat in my fleet, and I can tell you guy`s it is one big mean m.f.
It will be the U-870,Enst Hechler.

I noticed you have a bow section on your computer> I am working on a 1/72 Type IX C/40. I wonder if you have a drawing of the sonor/echo sounding device under the bow of these late U-Boats? I believe the Type XXIII and the Type XXI also had these. Any help would be great!
Thanks.
