Does anyone have is book, I was wondering what all the little arrows (red circle) on the plating lines mean? This it the wielding direction, like on page 78?

Simon... I'm not really sure what the arrows are depicting...but.. normally verticle welding is done "up welding" not down...horizontal is done either way...right to left or left to right..Bill

It anyone was wondering that the little arrows are. It looks like they are an old style welding symbol for a "V" groved fillet weld, for joining plates together ;D

Ahh, makes sense! I'd heard that sub plates formed a V when butted together, bot deeper welding, and that modern thick hulled subs are welded from two sides...???
