Truly amazing weathering. I wish I had your skills...
-
Hello Siara! Glad to see you alive and well! Remarkable work as usual. What's not to like about this? :D Is the "VW" PE after market or did you design and have made up? Lookinf forward to seeing more! ;D
-
Hi Siara, also amazing weathering! :o
-
WOW! I would say your best work yet - totally believable, like a photo. Yes, al your other work is like that too, but this is just toooo real. AMAZING! I've saved the pix to try to learn. I was loving it with the unpainted panel rust eaten through - then as I scrolled down..WOW!
So glad you have been modelling, and that you are back!
Please tell us your reasoning for this choice and how you plan to wow the world!
-
Thanks for the kind words guys.
I always wanted to build split screen VW van.
Now i know some of the techniques needed to represent worn vehicle i thought it would be good time to build one.
Im glad you like it.
Im not far off from completion- just the inside of the cab to be scratch built, and the details like door handles, mirror, and clamps on the rack to be done.
The finished model will be propbably published in Tamiya Model Magazine.
More pics soon.
-
It's amazing, can't wait for the mag!
-
Incredible.... i honestly can say that you are one of the best modellers in the world...
Karel
-
Yes, I agree...because the final result is a photo of the real thing..or the real thing shrunk by a shrinking ray
-
Thank you.
I wouldnt go as far as one of the best, but im certainly enjoing the hobby. ;)
-
you do the work so well, but you also pick interesting subjects, and you see them with interesting eyes...!

Thanks Wink. ;)
-
Really, very please you keep sharing..and wowing! It is such a thrill to all modellers, I think to see a photo miniature of something, with detail and passion. I have never been too much of a fan of VW vans, but again, I think this is your best! (I know you disagree but the impact is tremendous)
-
As usual I have no words for describe my admiration about your work.
You are a master, you are the Pep Guardiola of modelling. ;D
-
Tonight i should feel like Arsene Wenger. ;D
-
Masterful work as always my friend. Cool subject too! It's good to see you back by the way. :)
Ernest

You're right!!!!! ;D ;)

Inside of the cab straight from the kit is so basic, even the pedals, handbrake, door lining are missing.
I dealt with most of it so far, as you can see from the pictures posted earlier.
Now i made the door lining from scratch.
I used the various Evergreen styrene sheets.
The door handles are made using stretched sprue, and painted Alclad Chrome.

-
Very nice touch! :o
-
how many"wows" can we do..excellent
-
Thanks guys!
Lights, and blinkers are on. I used the clear sprue for the blinkers, and PET bottle for the headlight lenses. Weathered to look old.

Hi Siara,
Your best yet. Even better than the Egg Zeppelin masterpiece!
Love that number plate.
Cheers,
Dougie
-
Thanks Dougie!
Rear plate- it was the same shape as the front one, so bit of reshaping was required.

Chassis weathered, and exhaust painted:

One of the front hubcaps painted different color:

That is one real looking rust bucket!
-
Rat van for sure Wink. ;)
I made all the door handles from brass.
Painted Alclad Aluminium.

;D
I didnt know how to make the roof rack busy.
After lot of thinking i made the power tool box, and gin wheel from scratch.
Hope you like it:

Yes, there is just soooomuch in this build, so many layers of detail.
-
Im slowly closing this build, adding remaining few details.
Here the mirror added. It is scratch built, as the kit mirrors are chunky.

Wiper look superb Siara! Aftermarket or personal works?
My own, made from brass.
Everything is metal, apart from the blade itself, which is black paper.
Thanks.

Thanks Siara! ;D That cleared it up! Truly a tremendous effort in this as well as all your work. Thanks for sharing!
-
I finished building the van.
All the remaining details have been added i.e. the roof rack fixings, the two screws on the headlights, the four buffers on the loading door, and just to make it little bit different i added couple of mudflaps.
All is left now is to dust the van a little, and add some pigment rust here, and there.
Hope you enjoy the update, as i made the pictures using new to me technique of focus stacking.

Hello Siara,
Congratulations on another masterpiece! The black & white photos are stunning - very easy to believe they are the real thing! Reminds me of my 1960 VW Cabriolet - I loved that car. Your work is a real inspiration, I am constantly amazed by the superb craftsmanship shown in your projects.
Cheers,
Bill

:o :o :o :o :o :o :o
No words.... simply incredible.
-
Thank you for nice comments gentlemen.
Next on the bench is scratch built, first American submarine- the 1776 Bushnell`s Turtle.
As every year for easter i will make it using the chicken egg shell.
You can follow the build on my blog. ;)
-
HA! I am looking forward to the Egg Turtle!!!
-
WOW! MORE awesome shots of the van, and what a stunner that Turtle is! The "Zegglin" was funny and well done, but the Turtle - you wouldn't know it was an egg!
-
WOW , some people have so much talent.
-
It's amazing. like it was shrunk with a raygun. And what an average subject made awesome! He's a brilliant guy that Siara
