Welcome to the gallery

Here is my recently finished U-995. It has some flaws but I am very proud of it. The boat lacks snorchel piping - I found appropriate photographs late in the build. Free-flooding vents are grinded from the inside. Some scratch has been added on the CT and in other areas of the boat. Build took about 5 months and you can see it here: http://www.pwm.org.pl/viewtopic.php?f=172&t=7183
I added PE set by Eduard. I think it's simply an essential item. Insulators are made of modelling clay.

Any comments, positive and negative, are welcome! I would be glad to answer any questions as well.

Cheers!

Hi Ostach

Great build of U-995!!

The picture of the FuMb 7 - Naxos, you have a document in the background. I was just wondering that document they are? As I have not seen them before.

Hi Ostach, she is beautiful!  You are rightly proud of your build.  I really like the weathering; the paint chipping is especially well done.  What technique did you use to do the chipping?

Hi Ostrach,

A really nice model you have made. Like Ernest said, I particularly like the paint chipping. Also like the extra bars on the deck railings, the antenna and the plaque. Well done!

Cheers,

Dougie

Thanks for your opinions!

The next u-boat will be better and more accurate I hope.

Paint chipping has been done in two steps. In first step you paint an irregular "background" stains using a brush (00 size i think) and a slightly highlighed paint on which you're doing a chipping. In second step you paint the inside of the stains using a smaller brush and a dark colour like vandyke brown or so. The inside of the stain must be more irregular than the stain itself. A "shivering-hand" technique would be efficient. The more irregular and subtle spots you paint, the better effect you get. Remember not to over-do it.

Hope this will help..and is understandable :D

Cheers!

Hi Ostach, magnificent build! could you tell me how you did the weathering on the tower? I'd like to learn how to do that paint chipping effect you did.

Hi Ostach, lovely job, congratulations. I was wondering what did you use for your rigging/jumping wires? I am about to tackle two builds, a VIIC and VIIC/41 and I want to get as much information gathered together before I fully commit to the build. I am at the oil canning stage just now, so a bit of time before I start in earnest. Love your boat ;)
