Hi! found this on a modelling magazine and was left speechless. Dunno if you have already seen it before, I just couldnt refrain from sharing. It's the work of an amazing belgian modeller named David Portoy and it's called Fraternity, enjoy!

WOW!!! :o :o

awesome idea, very well done! Any more info on this?

well, just know it's 1/72 scale, took best of show at belgium ipms national convention 2010 and some other award at 2011 belgian scale modellers convention; only 2 pics found on the net. It depicts U-68 rescuing Bradford City survivors on 1st nov 1941, dunno if it really happened though, as Kenneth Wynn's book u-boat operations of WWII vol 1 (the only detailed Uboat ops book i possess) doesn't tell anything about the rescue, limiting only to state torpedoed/sunk.
No more infos, sorry, it would be great to know more anyways
cheers

Hey, that's still good stuff, and a wonderful dio!

Well done diorama! Wonder where he got the 1/72 Type IX!?!! Historically this did not happen. The U-boat did indeed shink the Target but did not rescue any of the crew. You can read about this on U-Boat.net.

I think the Type IX might be one of the 1/72 scale vacuform kits from Combat Models, heavily detailed with a ton of scratchbuilding of course. Though the kits are not very accurate some skilled work could turn one into a reasonable representation of a Type IXc; especially since the waterline display does away with at least half the inaccuracy! :P If that is the case, it is an awsome job indeed, and we havn't even discussed the merchant ship.

That is possible. I know of one other source for a vacuform 1/72 Type IXC. That is from my friend Oto in Cezh Rep. The Target I don't know about. It is a wonderful job however.
