G'day, mate. Link away!

I'm still looking at the manholes above (they're ballast tank access). I don't know what Mike has n plans, or if I have anything. With Gatos, it's a 50/50% chance that they are the same...or not!

Nice to get rid of that prop guard. I'm hoping to build one of those angle-iron temporary ones held on with cable and turnbuckles...but towards the end of the project. Some good shots in warships 28. Can't find any decent pix of those manhole covers, so can't answer if different to EB and Portsmouth. Still looking. Mike K might have some plans.

I've been unable to find any, readable, drawings showing the tank access covers, or which tanks had them.
Logically, only hard tanks, that extended above the waterline, would have them, Never ballast (soft) tanks. That would include After Trim Tank, Auxiliary Tanks, 1 & 2, Safety Tank, Collecting and Expansion Tanks. Probably Normal Fuel and Fuel-Ballast tanks.
I'm sorry I can't be of more help, good luck

Mike

That prop guard looks good. And, for what it's worth, a WWII buddy remembers his boat using them. He says there were 16 bolts, used in pairs, to attach it. But he can't seem to remember, exactly, where the attachment points were.
That's the problem with getting old, you remember just enough to add to the confusion.

That's exactly what I was talking about! Nicely done!

I'm fairly certain from the pix that there's just steel cable run under the boat and attached with turnbuckles.
