While touring subs a few months ago I learned an interesting bit of US submarine trivia. I just came across the subject in a book, and I think us submarine geeks might be mildly amused:
Where is the US Naval Shipyard "Portsmouth"
You may be surprised at the answer.

Should I answer,or do you want them to guess for awhile?

aww, no fair Mike! If no one answers by Sunday, go for it! You'll probably have more info than I do anyway!
;D

I wouldn't doubt there's something in the wording because I come up with two..
The naval yard in Portsmouth , Virginia...And... The Portsmouth Naval Yard New Hampshire. ::)
I'll go with New Hampshire.

Well... not VA. But Google map the other. There's a twist.

The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, of Submarine fame is located in Kittery, Maine. Across the Piscataqua River (North side) from Portsmouth, Hew Hampshire.

Thanks Mike!
Yes, everyone says "Portsmouth NH" but it's really Kittery Maine! The bay is a "C", with Portsmouth in the lower and the naval shipyard on Seavey's Island, in the middle. But the dividing marker between NH and ME is in the water, and the only access to Seaveys is def way on the Kittery side.
You can use this at cocktail parties and be the envy of all!
