Me109E-3 yellow 1 (hasegawa, 1:48 scale)
« on: 11 May , 2012, 13:13 »
An old build which I am very affectionate to. Yellow one, the mount of Pips Priller in 1940, heavily weathered and worn out (maybe too much for my current taste). It was meant to be part of a small diorama that i was never able to complete.
(propeller's dry-fitted, wheels n gears were meant to be weathered and properly dusted when on the diorama, canopy spring cable went missing, tallies position is not 100% correct, they should cover the swastika, which in turn sits a bit too high- didnt know at the time..20 years ago :P )
Enjoy!

Just right chipping and excellent canopy work. The weathering works, not too much, very real. I like this beauty. Do the dio!

Rokket, am glad you like it! Regarding the dio..am into subs now  ;D ! We'll see after I've done U-48.. Many things have happened (not at all pleasant i must say) over the last 5-8 months which have been slowing down and then stopped the U-48 project for a time. Am pleased to tell you that I've recently started working again on the sub, so stay tuned, there could be some WIP update soon on the uboat board!
thanks again!

Yellow 1's pilot fastening his lifejacket: 1/48 Verlinden Productions resin figure reworked. Inspiration came from a colour artwork taken by an original picture of Helmut Wick at the time of the battle of Britain. I re-sculpted the riding breeches with Das pronto putty moulded over a skeleton made with sprue sections (but am not 100% happy of the result), changed the head and added new lifejacket straps made of lead foil. Painting: enamels for the uniform and oils for the face and shading.
