Hi guys,

Here is one low quality image found in internet.
Type II is loading a torpedo with an exercise head.

There are two pictures in my Vesikko book:
page 37 Type IIB, page 69 Vesikko.
Unfortunately I can

Hi,

Here is another image of Type II loading torpedo find in internet.
The boat might be IID.

The strut with a pulley can be seen just behind the net cutter.

The file seems to be a scan from a book.
Does anyone know what book it could be?

Timo

Hi Timo,

The photo can be found on page 26 of "U-Boote: 1935-1945 The History Of The Kriegsmarine U-boats" by Jean Philippe Dallies-Labourdette (Histoire & Collections, 1996). The caption in the books says it is a VIIB...but I am sure you agree it isn't!

Cheers,

Dougie

Hi Timo, I'm a bit late in replying, but I wanted to let you know that your book is outstanding!  It was a great help to me during my U3 build and I will use it again for my next Type IIa build.  I wish I could read Finnish to find out all the neat information you wrote about.  Something to learn for the future I guess.  Again, well done!

Thanks for your kind words Ernest! I really appreciate!
Writing an u-boat book was great fun. At last I found a work that I really love to do.  ;D

Thanks Timo for the image :)

I see it came from the Finnish National Archives, I was just wondering do they hold many of the original documents?

I jealous. It a long way for me to see other original U-boat documents.

Have they started to scan them, or are they all still paper? Some of the important original documents in NZ are being scanned, to able viewing and for a backup.
