Title: Fun Question -- 1st hint-- we have an answer
Post by: 42rocker on 05 May , 2018, 18:45
Here is an interesting question.

Which U-Boat threw a lot of torpedoes over the side??

I'll make my post my guess in a few days as I have a good idea on which U-boat had a lot of torpedoes get pushed over the side.

Think you know, post, and something on why?

1st hint

I posted this in the IX area because the u-boat is an IXC type.

Winner!!

Why?

Well, 1st after being bombed the crew pushed several torpedoes over the side. (11/1942) then went back to port for a refit then did a couple of trips out. Then the US shot her up and boarded her and then pushed a lot of torpedoes over the side. (1944)

My guess to the number of torpedoes pushed over the side up to 10?

Anyone have another guess as to how many pushed over the side?

Or another U-boat that had to push a lot over the side. During the war I'm thinking.

I figured for the time of the extensive damage to the aft section, they'd want to get the torps out of there quickly!  :)
And other than U-190, it's the most famous Type IXC that I know.

Glenn
They not only dumped the torpedoes over the side they did the carriers as well. In reviewing the Uboat log they may have taken a few days to do it. The 1942.
In 1944 The US did it at some point but got the boat stable first.
