Title: U 505 Re-enactors
Post by: Rokket on 18 Feb , 2014, 00:35
Doing some minor research, stumbled on this site. I say good on 'em. Re-enacting is a fun way to keep history alive (I'm biased, I used to work for a living history museum.)

Hi Rokket

According to their website it doesn't appear that they've done much in the last 5 years

I didn't have much time to stay on the site, but since they are heavy into U 05, I'm thinking close to Chicago USA. No, they haven't done much, but I see all kinds of obstacles. I hope they do well.

I have contacted these guys about a year or so ago. They are no longer active. too bad. It is douptful if the Museum would allow them to go topside on U-505 now since it is a Historical Monument.  Nice idea though. I have some of my Fathers uniform s and his set of U-Boat leathers he had on at surrender of U-805.  No, they are not for sale!!!!
Regars,
Dan

Too bad. It seems that so many cool things are crushed or fade because of Mundanes.

Great you have that stuff Dan. I hope you take some pictures for safety, and keep them well stored. Nice stuff to have.

Hi Again!
I have all of it in acid free storage boxes.  If you want to see a pic of the leathers I will post it. This shot is of some of the crew of U-805 after their surrender. My father is the one on the far left with the blond hair.
Regards,
Dan

Wow, that's awesome. Great it's in color, too. Thanks for sharing it! (yes to leathers...)
